The Myth vs. Reality
  • MYTHs for the optimistic.
    • Electronics is hard but accessable.
    • I can learn electronics anytime I want. 
    • There are lots of good books out there. 
    • every night school has an introduction to electronics class. 
  • REALITY: Electronics is not accessable. It doesn't matter if it's is hard or easy. 
    • There are very few introductory courses to the topic anywhere. 
    • The courses available require a huge commitment of time and $$$ because they are geared to teach certifiable skills. 
    • Almost every book is geared to the initiated.  You are expected to know something before you start. 
    • There are no courses that introduce electronics at a hobbyist's level.
    • Google Search results for "night school" + "beginning electronics" came up with limited results.
      •  Programs of Study... The first 540 hoursof the program, Beginning Electronics, will include fundamental electronics, semiconductor / optoelectrical devices, and digital ... 
      • to the local vocational school for a two year course. The 1st year was "beginning electronics/TV-radio . . . 
      • Edureview.org  lists a variety of long term programs that train professionals.
