Part IV Exercise Key
Lesson 46
1. Force is measured in Newtons.

2. 1 N force moves about 100 grams upwards against the force of gravity. (specifically 98g)

3. Work is the amount of force exerted onan object over a distance.

4. Force X Distance = Work

  • By definition
    • If F = 0.0 then W must equal 0.0
    • If D = 0.0 then W must equal 0.0

5.  Work is measured in Newton Meters.  1 NM = 1 Joule

6. 1 NM (or 1 Joule) is achived by moving 98 grams a distance of 1 meter straight up.

7 Power is the RATE that workis done.

8. Common unit for Power is Watts (W).

9.

10. .027W = 27 mW

11.

12. 12.  150 W > 22 W

13a.

13b. 5 LEDs at 50 mA each in a 3 volt system.
 V  X  I  =  W
 3v X .050A = .15 W
 5 LEDs at .15 W each will use .75W.

14. Table 46-2

16.

17.  Not Really.  If it does light up, it will be dim.
