3 volts to 15 volts - Too much can and will burn out the chips and
other components. This results in lost time & effort.
This chip exploded when the bright person building the ciurcuit plugged
it directly into 120 V AC.
Nobody was injured during this display of stupidity.

The number 4011 should be prominant. But be aware
that the writing varies from chip to chip. It is discussed in detail
later. Note page 132 and figure 35-3. |

At the least, the processor would not work properly. At worst,
you could burn out the chip. |

This is very true. Most frequently, integrated circuits and other
components are destroyed as a result of bad wiring. |

Read all of this. Why is this question even being asked?
Our introduction to digital electronics relys on Logic Gate Chips like
the 4011 IC (a dual input, Quad NAND Gate).
Many ICs use analog and digital inputs to manage information and signals.
There are only a fraction of IC Processors that deal with logic Gates.
Too often, people immediately think that all ICs are logic gates.
This is no more valuable to understanding electronics than the belief that
all liquids contain water helps in understanding chemistry. |
